Chinese dating phrases

Proverbs are brief phrases known from folklore that are concise but hold a very powerful meaning behind them. Most of them reflect the average person's practical experience in life. They are a little bit like idioms, but the oral features will be stronger and easier to understand.

Today in this essay i will show you some very funny and common Chinese sayings in thatwe use in our daily life and you can continue to use in yours.

1. About eat

1) 吃不了兜着走。[chī bu liǎo dōu zhe zǒu]: be unable to bear. It is a kind of metaphor that means someone made some mistaken or caused harmful consequences. And this person has to bear it by himself.

For example:
Bié ɡěi wǒ rě má fɑn,fǒu zé rànɡ nǐ chī bù liǎo dōu zhe zǒu。
(Don't get into trouble, otherwise you will bear all the consequences by yourself.)

2) 吃着碗里的看着锅里的。[chī zhe wǎn lǐ de kàn zhe ɡuō lǐ de]: The main meaning is greedy and dissatisfied.

For example:
wǒmen bùnénɡ chī zhe ɡuōlǐde, kàn zhe wǎnlǐde, yào dǒnɡ dé zhzú cái huì kuàilè。
我们不能吃着锅里的, 看着碗里的,要懂得知足才会快乐。
We cannot have an eye on the second one, we should know that happiness consists in contentment.

3) 喝西北风。[hē xī běi fēng]: drink the northwest wind. It means nothing to eat, only live with an empty stomach and live on air.

For example:
tā diū le ɡōnɡ zuò, quán jiā zhǐ nénɡ hē xī běi fēnɡ le.
他丢了工作, 全家只能喝西北风了。
He lost his job, so the whole family can only live on air.

About relationship

有缘千里来相会。[yǒu yuán qiān lǐ lái xiānɡ huì]: As if by predestination, we will meet the destined to people.

For example:
Yǒu yuán qiān lǐ lái xiānɡ huì,wǒ men zhōnɡ huì yù jiàn nà ɡè mìnɡ zhōnɡ zhù dìnɡde rén。
有缘千里来相会, 我们终会遇见那个命中注定的人。
As if by predestination, we will meet the destined to people.

有福同享, 有难同当。[yǒu fú tónɡ xiǎnɡ,yǒu nán tónɡ dānɡ]: Share happiness and hardship.

For example:
hūn yīn ɡuān xi,jiù shì jiàn lì zài shuānɡ fānɡ "yǒu fú tónɡ xiǎnɡ,yǒu nán tónɡ dānɡ" de jī chǔ shànɡ。
婚姻关系,就是建立在双方"有福同享, 有难同当"的基础上。
The marriage relationship is also a source of emotional support in good and bad times.

3. About time and money

一寸光阴一寸金,寸金难买寸光阴。[yí cùn ɡuānɡ yīn yí cùn jīn,cùn jīn nán mǎi cùn ɡuānɡ yīn]: An inch time inch gold, the time is difficult to buy an inch time.

For example:
Wǒ men yào hǎo hǎo zhēn xī shí jiān,yīn wèi"yí cùn ɡuānɡ yīn yí cùn jīn, cùn jīn nán mǎi cùn ɡuānɡ yīn。"
我们要好好珍惜时间,因为 "一寸光阴一寸金,寸金难买寸光阴。"

机不可失, 时不再来。[jī bù kǔ shī shí bù zài lái]: Take time when time comes lest time steal away.

For example:
Jī bù kě shī,shí bú zài lái;jī huì yí ɡuò,yǒnɡ bú zài lái。
When an opportunity is neglected, it never comes back to you.
